China the importance of face. May help in regards to understanding MDCE business culture, simply is prevalent in Chinese society...

for a westerner this is a scary thought in the case of true failure... would MDCE admit it? Seems face could easily be confused as failure to admit or show evidence to a westerner... MDCE incorporated here, but by Chinese-Canadians, to run western style childrens clinics in China...

Why did MDCE incorporate here? why not Canada? How long were Mr. Kuo and Mrs. Wu in Canada? Were they born in Canada? Did they have Chinese citizenship prior to doing business in China? these may never get answered, mostly thinking out loud... however if you think a little deeper there are many questions that arise besides these...

reading that Chinese culture as being fairly supportive and concious of issues that arise from any show of failure or possible failure, which has implications for some of the behaviour we have been seeing... actually I have seen this behaviour before with friends, but never expressed it or thought about explaining it as we are all different... but I cannot help but think that the US was used for seed money and is all... the company is incorporated here but cannot go into business without a JV in China and the JV must be Chinese. And many US portions of these joint ventures end up failing or pulling out... JMHO look it is incorporated here but no Americans are with MDCE hope you understand my point...
