S-8 Shares are dilution, plain and simple
These shares are not dilution until they are awarded during the following years. The filing was only a registration. The shares do not have to be awarded.

despite really nice sales... they can't turn a profit... Why?
It is not a matter of "can't" but of "hasn't."
I suggest you carefully read the last quarter report and listen to the last Annual Report. Download the last quarter's supplimental materials, and look closely at the material improvements and growth.

You will have a much better understanding of the company and its future prospects.
