INTEL SHIPS WOLFSON AUDIO CODEC WITH NEW MOBILE DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM

Edinburgh, UK - Wolfson Microelectronics, Ltd., a technical leader in developing audio IC’s for multimedia and communications applications, today announced that one of its Audio IC’s is being shipped with the latest mobile reference design from Intel Corporation. The WM9707, which is contained on a mobile daughter card (MDC), is now shipping to major PC companies on a developers kit promoting the new mobile chipset from Intel.

The WM9707’s low power consumption and high sound quality makes it the ideal choice for the next-generation of Intel® Mobile Pentium™ III systems. Intel’s decision to ship the Wolfson audio IC reaffirms Wolfson as a technical leader in the multimedia arena.

About the WM9707

The WM9707 is an AC’97 stereo codec. It supports variable sample rates ranging from 8kHz up to 48kHz, as well as many standard and optional features while maintaining ultra-low power consumption.
