When I worked for the gubmit, we had a fleet of cars the had a CNG tank that took care of the first 60-80 miles then switched over to gasoline. A friend had a propane powered 318 cu.in. truck which could be easily modified to run on methane (bio-gas). A good book that gives a broad historical/economic perspective of our energy use is called "The Hydrogen Economy" by Rifkin: http://www.amazon.com/The-Hydrogen-Economy-Jeremy-Rifkin/dp/1585422541 It might be a little dated as it came out in 2004(3?). I can't wait to read his latest book entitled "The Third Industrial Revolution" which came out last fall. S~P
