You know what's interesting about this movie? I have had friends say, "I saw this awesome movie, Crash". Then we discuss it and they say, "You know, it actually wasn't a great movie but I enjoyed watching it anyway". I had the same experience, cannot deny it.
Oddest thing, eh? I think the guy who directed it also wrote the screenplay. He is an amazing director, is how I see it. The screenplay is horrible but the performances he elicits from everyone overrides the glaring flaws in the story.
I found the screenplay offensive, actually. But it would take me a paragraph to explain why one screenplay that requires the viewer to suspend disbelief beyond what is reasonable can do so successfully while another is offensive. Anyway, I was captivated by the brilliant directing and consequently, the acting as well.
