There's gambling, then there's taking a calculated risk-two different things. Every stock has a value based on company earnings and demand. Any investment involves risk be it buying a part ownership of a company, or buying something at a garage sale in hopes of unloading it on Ebay for 2 or 3 times purchase price-no guarantee, but not gambling. Gambler owns nothing of value playing slots, money spent is money gone if no win, period. Now, there are investments that are smarter than others, be they short-term or long-term, but generally, there is no smart gambling, else the casinos would go out of business.
