No not everyone can do it. Not everyone can naked-short a stock. And traders will not organize themselves to create an aggregate demand intentionally moving the stock in a specific direction. And you can not know exactly what happens for your buy at ask order if routed through a market maker who will get hurt if the stock went up. It's not a level playing field especially for this stock through the past couple of months.

how did they get full control over the stock if that were true everyone could do it both ways and it would be a level playing field
