yes, that is news... BUT...

Why are those Romanians planting new trees and building shoddy additions onto their existing houses? Could it be they are reimbursed by Gabriel for each tree and the square footage of their houses? You can bet it is...!

Gabriel has enough bucks now (and with $330+ gold) to make it very lucrative for residents to pick up and relocate in substantially better housing than they have now. My bet is the invisible hand wins out over Green Peace, odds are better than 80:20, IMO.

This deposit is just too large, the best economic use of this land is as a gold mine, not as a Roman theme park as some have ludicrously suggested or anything else... At worst, these now capitalistic Romanians will use GreenPeace and other ngo's as a means to get a better price for their property. At best, most will choose to relocate to the new Gabriel built housing facility and become miners and support economy infrastructure for a huge mine that will be around for the next 15+ years. Finally, Gabriel has apparently gold plated the environmental aspects of this project to limit environmental impact, e.g. cyanide destruction, improved tailings facility.
