Are you sure?

My broker has levels, and you must apply for the level you want. For example, Level 1 only allows covered calls, but I filled out a new application and got it upgraded to Level 2, which permitted uncovered calls. They have two levels above that (getting into straddles, etc), and each one has to be approved.

Your broker may be entirely different, of course.
