I glanced at some of the papers published today and they are really complex.
Don't even try and understand. It is really amazing what they do and what they want to achieve but understanding what is really there is still along way ahead. They are able to detect the bits and pieces that make the genome work. They need functional assays to test all the hypotheses and this is the bottleneck. They develop fascinating technologies and algorithms and tell about functional vs. non-functional DNA. What it lacks is enough details to convince me that it is really not an artifact of their analytical methods. Only time will tell. Many labs will do the follow up and fill some of the gaps but it will be painfully slow.
