It would be good to know how they defined mild

In EXPEDITION trials they used MMSE score (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1202204)

See Inclusion Criteria in clinicaltrials.gov:

"Meets criteria for mild to moderate Alzheimer's Disease (AD) with Mini-Mental State Examination score of 16 through 26 at screening"
