Packers... IMO Upgradable means more time n effort needed to utilize and work through hardware upgrades and most likely means transcoading, more parts, more battery usage and latient codec interchangability for codexecution between those offered along with it heavy pc reliance.

IMO... As TXN states - the players can be firmware upgradable or it can reside on the player. The DRMs and codec issues within the downloading sector hasn't as yet warrented the need for a true multicodec player... but there are some out there; and imo the world will soon know the what, who and whys they do and don't do.
