U.S. Air Force Awards HP Key Technology Contract

7:45 AM ET 8/23/12 | Marketwire

HP (NYSE: HPQ) today announced that the U.S. Air Force (USAF) has selected HP to provide business PCs and workstations as part of its enterprise IT purchase program.

The award -- part of the USAF CCS (Client, Computing and Servers) Quantum Enterprise Buy (QEB) -- will add to the 1 million units of HP products the USAF has deployed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific in the past seven years. In compliance with USAF requirements, HP will include customized agency configurations that meet strict standards and tests for memory, audio, video and other specifications.

Through its QEBs, the USAF has procured more PCs and workstations from HP than from any other vendor or manufacturer.

"For more than seven decades, HP has served as a premier technology provider and trusted IT innovator for the U.S. military and federal government," said John Solomon, senior vice president, Printing and Personal Systems, and managing director, Americas, HP. "We continue to deliver the highest-quality products and solutions that contribute to supporting the USAF."

The QEB award will include the HP Z820 Workstation, HP Z420 Workstation, HP EliteBook 8560w Mobile Workstation, HP Compaq 6005 Pro Business PC, HP ProBook 6460b Notebook PC, HP EliteBook 2560p Notebook PC and HP EliteBook 2760p Tablet PC.

High-performing, versatile workstations and desktops The HP Z820 Workstation delivers outstanding performance with next-generation dual processors, support for up to 16 processing cores, and the latest professional graphics. The single-processor HP Z420 Workstation offers professional expandability in an accessible tool-free mini-tower form factor, and delivers support for up to eight cores of processing power.

All HP Z Workstations are ENERGY STAR(R) qualified, registered as Electronics Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT(TM)) Gold products -- the highest rating available -- and more than 90 percent recyclable by weight.

Designed and tested to meet tough military standards for drop, vibration, dust, altitude and high temperature,(1) the versatile HP EliteBook 8560w Mobile Workstation offers robust processing power and features professional graphics solutions that are tested and certified to run demanding applications.

The HP Compaq 6005 Pro Business PCs will be available in two configurations -- small form factor and microtower -- that meet the USAF's secure product category requirements and offer secure hardware, software and firmware. Both models are EPEAT Gold registered and include energy-efficient features that conserve power.

Lightweight, travel-ready and durable notebooks and tablets The 14-inch diagonal HP ProBook 6460b Notebook PC features a full-size keyboard and is equipped with a range of durability features, including a bead-blasted aluminum display enclosure, a magnesium-reinforced chassis and a bottom case with drain that helps protect against accidental minor spills.

The HP EliteBook 2560p Notebook PC features a lightweight 12.5-inch diagonal display, standard-voltage processor, a full-size hard drive and an optical drive. Offering the same functionality as a conventional business notebook along with the flexibility of a writing tablet, the 12.1-inch diagonal HP EliteBook 2760p Tablet PC allows for pen use or finger touch. Both HP EliteBook models offer next-generation processors and feature 7,200 revolutions per minute hard disk drives(2) and solid-state drives for longer battery run time, increased durability and quieter, cooler operation.

The HP and USAF blanket purchase agreement number is FA8771-10-A-0601.
