General information about the claim area:

Goldfield
Other names: Grandpa, Sandstorm, Diamondfield, Quartz Mountain
County: Esmeralda, Nye
Discovered: 1902
Organized: 1902
Commodities: gold, silver, copper, lead, arsenic
Comments: Centered on the town of Goldfield. First named Grandpa, then changed to Goldfield.
The Goldfield district sometimes includes the separate Diamondfield district to the north. The
Quartz Mountain area is in Nye County, about 10 miles east of Goldfield.

Metallic (not shown on plate)
County: Nye
Comments: Described as “95 miles east of Pine Grove,” Metallic was possibly the same general
location as the historic Volcano district. Metallic City was in the Candelaria district, but was at a
later date and probably not related to this Metallic; the exact location is unknown.
