HH: I believe it was stated in a press release. I do recall that e.Digital referred to it as patent pending "write behind" technology in that document, but later began to refer to it as "write back" as that's what most message board posters called it.
You can find most of e.Digital's past press releases by accessing archives of their web site. Not all archives are if you try several, you should be able to locate them. Try this link to the archives.
It's actually kind of comical to go back and read all of their old PR's with 20/20 hindsight. I looked at one that covered the period the co was having to deal with IKant and the selling of shelf shares. They were putting out 3-5 PRs a month. Sorry, but I didn't keep the link to that PR page.
These archives are really useful to document their past statements, even when they try to cover them up by deleting the PR from their website.
For example, this archived PR page: http://web.archive.org/web/20040208160328/edig.com/releases.php shows all 4 PRs that e.Digital issued around CES. However, e.Digital later deleted the two below. The Eclipse PR falsely stated that they were "showcasing" the HD1213 and would be accepting pre-sale orders. The other PR contained a supposed quote from the CEO of Cornice about MOS that IMO he may not have authorized (these quotes are often written by the company issueing the release and OK'd by the person supposedly being quoted).
The end result is that 2 of the 4 PRs issued around 2004 CES were later removed from e.Digital's website.
