Typical action of a pump and dump.

No buys for days or weeks at a time, then someone scoops up a couple million cheap shares at an elevated PPS to excite the nubes. Only problem is, there is no news, no reason for the buys. The nubes figure this out when there are no buyers for the artificially pumped stocks. Too late, of course, and at a substantial loss. Welcome to the pump and dump.
