AMD Ending Relationship With UMC

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is reportedly ending its relationship with Taiwan's United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) and terminating plans to cooperate on a joint 12-inch chip venture in Singapore.

Dow Jones today cited an AMD official in Hong Kong as saying that the two companies were "winding up" their relationship and would probably not build the fab, though no official announcement had been made.
