New Gas discovery near ERHC's JDZ-2

Note that Block-R is just off of JDZ-2 where Ophir has made several dry gas discoveries which it intends to tie back as a field and construct a pipeline to support a second LNG Train on Bioko Island.

This chart shows Block R and the Bioko LNG plant in relation to the JDZ. (More text and charts below)

I have pointed out that a standalone vessel, Floating LNG (FLNG), or a tie back to Total's infrastructure piped to Nigeria LNG (NLNG) or the planned Brass LNG are not the only options for the JDZ, which clearly has considerable dry gas in a similar geology. Not is Total the only operator that may have interest in JDZ gas discoveries or the nearby infrastructure to possibly make it commercial. Bomo-1 is and even JDZ-4 are well within sub-sea tie-back limits.

Ophir Energy announces gas discovery at Tonel-1 well in Block R offshore Equatorial Guinea

This discovery takes "takes the total de-risked, recoverable gas resources in Block R to ca. 2.2TCF (367mmboe); approaching the minimum commercial threshold for a second LNG train on Bioko Island, which is estimated to be ca. 2.5TCF"

These are in a similar geology as the targets of JDZ-2 Bomu-1 discovery, Toe Thrust Belt anticlines.

Further appraisals and exploration wells are planned after this fifth and largest Block R discovery to date.

Edit: I just did a search for “FLNG 2010” and here is a post by ERHClongtimer on the subject back in 2010 with chart and text that discusses the FLNG vs. pipeline to Bioko 2nd LNG Train concept vs. a São Tomé and Príncipe LNG plant. And there I thought I had an original idea.
