since options settle next day unlike stocks as long as you have settled cash in your account you can day trade as many trades as you like.
actually i maintain only cash account because its very good for options.if there is not enough cash, your options will be sold rather than assign the shares to you but i try to take loss and move on instead of making them expire worthless.
i follow farooq's tip he gave on this board long time ago. if you have 1k cash in your account and if you are expecting to do 5 trades a day divide by 5 and that is 200$ per trade.next day everything will be settled and all the cash will be available.
