1) Things went to hell in a handbasket.
2) No objectors showed up, Wally and Guyer went into another room out of earshot, shook hands, had a shot of grog and re-entered the room. Shortly thereafter, the room broke out in laughter and celebratory gestures as the hearing officer said that the permit approval would go forward without objections and reduced conditions.
