So I am not sure that Tullow's current or past drilling does much to derisk ERHC's future drilling. -midtieroil

It is necessary to have some basic knowledge about geology and the Oil and Gas exploration business to make an informed comment.

For example, here is a comment from Dr, Thuo, who has the knowledge and experience necessary to have an informed oppinion.

Of major implication to the petroleum system in the Block 11A area, the Loperot well recovered light paraffinic oil sourced from an excellent type 1 oil-prone lacustrine shale,” said ERHC’s Geoscientist and Technical Adviser, Dr. Peter Kinyua Thuo, who has worked extensively in Kenya. “Even more important have been the significant oil columns encountered by the Ngamia-1 well. [Tullow]”

I think it is clear that Dr. Thuo is a respected source. Anyone disputing Dr. Thuo should list their credentials like Dr. Thou does, otherwise, they are just a random commenter on the internet with no credibility.

Dr. Thuo had extensive experience working as a senior geologist and geochemist in the NOCK. Dr. Thuo earned his Postgraduate Diploma in Exploration Geology from the University of London, Masters of Science Degree in Geology from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and a PhD from the Université de Bretagne Occidentale in France. He has authored many technical papers and presentations on African E&P, especially on the petroleum prospectivity of the Mesozoic and Tertiary Rift Basins of Kenya.

Dr. Thou's papers are on the prospectivity of the Tertiary Rift where ERHC's Kenya block is located.

So when a credible and credentialed source like Dr. Thou comments that the Tullow exploration well is even more important than the Loperot exploration well which he described as "of major implication to " the area of ERHC's Kenya block, I value that opinion and use it as part of real Due Diligence.

And yes, they were both exploration wells, not appraisal wells as anyone doing actual research would know.

Those are appraisal wells and maybe even production wells. - midtieroil
