Finra reported that many as short sales.
The normal amount of reported short sales for most stocks is an average of 30%.
That does not represent actual shares that were sold short by the end of the day as many people think.
There are days where the MM's do sell a large percentage of the volume as naked shorts on their books. Typically that gets covered in a few days.
If you look into how that short sales percentage is calculated there are a lot of things that get counted as short, that you and I would not consider as a short sale into the market.
