One thing that sticks in my mind was there were 12 ships that sank counting the Atocha just in that one storm. Pick anyone of the 12 that could have been carrying emeralds and I'm sure the emeralds would match emeralds on the Atocha? Hel@ pick any ship for a 10 or 20 year span heading back to Europe and I'm sure the emeralds would match. It means nothing in my opinion. You could look at old European emerald jewelry and find stones from the same mine. We both know that those couldn't have come from the Atocha but hey the stones could match???
Two ships sink carrying freshly minted quarters, one is found and any quarters found within a few miles belong to the company. Years later somebody finds quarters scattered 40 miles away from the others from another ship. Of course they would be identical, but they are from two seperate ships! Means nothing in my opinion. I guess the judge will hopefully figure it out the correct way?
