Any deal nxt makes with any manufacturer will involve huge volumes of product every year. The only reason they had to make the AR boxes is the manufacturers are too afraid to take a step toward innovation by junking their furnaces (no salvage value). They have stuck with what they know works so nxt had to upgrade the product.

The initial plan that used to be on their site was licensing the tech to manufacturers who would build their own AR boxes, however they misjudged the market.
I deleted the old powerpoint but think it was $50 M in royalties they were hoping for with 10% of the market for tandem. Regular cells were supposed to be maybe 10% of that but still a huge valuation. Silicon prices have dropped since then, but black and absolute black must be more valuable than just the old AR coating, especially if they get a tandem someday.
So whatever Hodge said about valuation may be true, but there is nothing guaranteed.
