Dont know if this helps, but general bedrock and gravel depth that should be worked in order to have a viable concession in that area should NOT be more than 3 meters. This is because the Blacksands is the layer of sand directly on top of the gravel and if you have to mine to a depth in excess of 3 meters then the amount of material moved to the actual gold recovery can be prohibitive. However having said that IF Blacksands is your target as well as gold then the: Depth of the Blacksands and the amount of Overburden dictates the viability.
NOW here is the good NEWS. (FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE) In the area Sney is working, it is low flood plains and swamp and the depth to Bedrock will not be more than 3 meters together with a good depth of Blacksands it is obvious why the Rees are important in this operation. IMHO.
