Let me tell you I was NOT impressed with my UPS ( Uninterrupted Power Supply ) system with my computer and they are NOT cheap either. The computer system would stay on for 15 minutes max before shutting down abruptly during a power outage. Just enough time to try to save everything to HD. Maybe safer systems include the use of fuel or battery generators I dont know.

I have always thought of computer systems as a fast way to work information into a more "hard copy" format. Also they provide an excellent way to format information in many ways to correct mistakes and brighten up presentations HOWEVER,

Because of the unknown like weather and many others there is no getting around the need for a hard copy backup of important information like accounting etc.

Disc drives are pretty amazing but they are not so good that they dont need to be backed up with older systems. And even those systems are prone to fires and floods and such.

Save the trees but first save the people if you know what I mean.
