That sounds a lot like what I said. Sentiment IS more important than TA. Your charts tell us what the stock price did in the past and, all other things being equal (which, or course, they seldom are), predict the direction of the price in the near future. However, a general sentiment may, and a specific one will, override the previous pattern. I've always thought charts give a visual picture of what the market thought of (sentiment) the company's future in the past. It's based in large part on human nature.
They are definitely useful, but you should never forget annother quote, this one, if I remember correctly, from Keanes. "The market can remain irrational longer than I can remain solvent."
Perhaps where we differ is on our definition of 'irrational.'
