The problem is that the cup is being held in Richmond, CA.

If one looks at where the Craneway Pavilion is on a map:

The place is FAR away from any foot traffic/public transportation. You need a car to get to it.

Last year the cup was actually IN SAN FRANCISCO. Much easier to get to, anyone could have taken public transportation and/or walked to it.
