Greenway Design Group President Explains Cool-n-Save's Attraction
One key attraction is Cool-n-Save's ability to earn substantial energy savings for air conditioning. Equally attractive is the unusually quick customer's return on investment generated from substantial energy savings
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., June 19, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Greenway Design Group, Inc. $GDGI president and chairman Ben Lefrancois today explained how the company calculates their customers' return on investment from the purchase of Cool-n-Save pre-cool misting systems for commercial air conditioning.
"The customer's return on investment is an estimate of the balance between the energy savings generated and the first year cost of the Cool-n-Save system, which includes the cost of new equipment, installation, and the first year of maintenance," Lefrancois explains.
"Our most popular Cool-n-Save configuration, the Hero-50 pump/filter system, including the first year to replace water filters and chemistry, may cost our customer between $15,000 and $25,000. Installation details determine final cost: distance from water and power supply, number and distance between condensing coils, and other factors. The other side of the equation is the estimated energy savings. Most of Greenway's customers see between 22 to 33% reduction in energy use from air conditioning. For a nominal Hero-50 installation, we'd expect the monthly energy reduction to be between $1,250 and $2,000," he says.
Actual energy reduction (savings) depends on the condition of the HVAC equipment, climate, and the number of air conditioning months. For that reason, each Cool-n-Save system must be custom configured. "We chose from four different Cool-n-Save pump/misting models and deploy them to ensure the most economical situation possible," says Lefrancois.
Since Greenway dealers perform all maintenance, the estimate includes estimated labor and the purchase price of proprietary filtration supplies from the company based on an expected schedule. "The cost of expendables, like our Cool Release water treatment chemistry and nano filters, is determined by water quality and system usage."
Lefrancois points out that the company focus on customer's "return on investment" is a very strong draw. "Although the ROI calculation is only an estimate and not a guarantee, our customers see that there is a point where they may recoup their cost," he says. According to Greenway's customer records, the fastest ROI was 3 months, generated by a large data storage and networking facility in Las Vegas, NV.
Greenway markets their pre-cool technology under the trademark "Cool-n-Save." Independent studies field studies (in Nevada and Costa Rica) show that Cool-n-Save evaporative pre-cooling systems may produce energy cost savings as high as 30%, with an average savings of about 26% from air conditioning use during peak heat seasons. The company has been developing pre-cool misting technology since 2005. Greenway received a "green engineering" award co-sponsored by TechAmerica and Harvey Mudd College in 2011.
