Alarming factoids from colonoscopy study: Elderly* patients who had a prior† colonoscopy performed by a gastroenterologist had a 57% lower risk of dying of CRC than matched patients who had a prior colonoscopy performed by a primary-care doctor. The latter group had almost as high a risk of dying of CRC as patients who did not have a colonoscopy during the prior 10 years.

The data in this study came from Medicare billing records, which is not exactly a “clean” database, but the disparities found are too big to dismiss as statistical flukes, IMO.
