Core Somatic Exercises:
Essential movements for every body

Saturday, June 23, 2012
1:00 - 3:00 PM

Two-hour New York City Workshop

@ Movements Afoot, 49 W 27th Street, New York City
workshop

This two-hour workshop for every body will provide an brief yet in-depth "training" in some of the most essential exercises for reshaping and realigning any body's core functionality, for maximum flexibility and pain relief for any fitness level.

These exercises apply to...

chronic pain sufferers,
desk workers with work-related injuries,
couch potatoes looking for greater comfort,
movement and fitness professional including pilates instructors,
yoga teachers, and personal trainers,
and athletes looking to avoid or reverse performance and flexibility losses.

We'll explore the benefits and gains that come not just from a stronger core, but a "smarter" core.

Our focus will be primarily on the muscles of the trunk -- the abdomen, back, hips, shoulders and chest. We'll also show you how all these muscles work together to cause or solve many problems you might also be experiencing in the rest of your body -- feet, knees, hands, wrists, elbows, neck, and jaw.

This class is meant for all audiences...

Attendees new to Somatics will get a foundational introduction to the most important Somatics exercises you can do for immediate, long-term, and life-long results.
For those locals who've attended Somatics classes before and are familiar with the basics, this class will still provide a wealth of information and detail on critical elements for optimal benefits -- and for applying and using Somatics to improve all your other movement practices, from yoga and pilates to working out at the gym or just daily life.

These are the "desert island" Somatics moves that everyone needs to do. After this workshop, you'll be able to do them, quickly every day or any time you want, to take care of yourself the rest of your life.

Somatics Training Comes to the Big Apple

openhouse
After the Workshop...
Free Open House:

How Does Somatics Work, and Why Should I Care?

A presentation for all audiences

and
an informational session
about Somatics Professional Training

This free informal session will provide more information on the basic physiology of our muscles and central nervous system that make us all suffer needlessly from chronic pain, injuries, aches, and the seemingly inevitable losses of aging. You'll quickly learn how this can all be reversed or avoided easily and naturally using the same nervous system that caused it in the first place!

This discussion and presentation is coordinated with the movement class to increase your benefits and help you maintain them on your own over time as you go back to your regular life and practices.

This open house is also meant to provide information about the upcoming first ever New York City Somatics Professional Training Program (first classes start September 15).

Anyone considering training or otherwise interested in Somatics professionally should attend this Open House.

The Open House will be informal, and you can visit for as long or as short as you'd like. We recommend most people come for at least the first 30 minutes, as we'll be offering an important presentation then that will both help people who attended the movement class, and give an important overview for prospective trainees.

Plus, there will be free refreshments, and who knows how long those will last!

A Don't Miss opportunity for anyone who's ever been curious about Somatics or just about staying healthy, fit, and pain-free.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Clinical Somatics is the groundbreaking method of neuromuscular retraining from Thomas Hanna for pain-relief, injury treatment and prevention, flexibility, postural alignment, and enhanced movement performance. Somatics uses biologically intrinsic gentle, easy movements that rapidly unlock our innate self-correcting and -healing abilities to relieve or eliminate conditions of mis-use, trauma, degeneration, and "aging" that were historically considered incurable.
