Golf's Major Championships

I checked the yardage for the senior event and it is approx. 7,100 yds. I cannot understand why the equipment companies produce clubs & balls that supposedly go further & then the golf courses then increase the length of the holes. Is not the most satisfaction in playing this most difficult game the precision of tee shots , chip/wedges and putting. It really is getting old to hear the announcers tell us "what a monster drive" the person just hit. Much more exciting to see a shot like Bubba's or Tigers. Marketing in this sport stinks.
