GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 6, 2005--Telkonet, Inc. (AMEX:TKO - News), the leader in providing powerline carrier (PLC) networking solutions using existing electrical wiring, today announced a strategic partnership to integrate Telkonet's Powerline Communications (PLC) technology into multi-dwelling and multi-tenant networks developed and operated by IDACOMM, a subsidiary company of Boise-based IDACORP, Inc. (NYSE:IDA - News). IDACOMM is a proven leader in the developing Broadband Over Powerline (BPL) marketplace; bringing a technology-neutral strategy, coupled with the demonstrated ability to engineer, build, operate and maintain a BPL network. IDACOMM has built ISP networks in 22 markets across the country, and Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) networks in three of those markets.
IDACOMM currently supports a customer base of more than 15,000 subscribers with services ranging from residential dial-up to gigabit Ethernet, dark fiber and Voice over IP services introduced in 2004. In addition, IDACOMM provides managed services on a wholesale basis to other ISP's with a combined customer base of more than 10,000 subscribers. IDACOMM manages more than 400 route-miles of fiber network in three western metropolitan markets.
By using Telkonet's iWire System(TM) networking solution, IDACOMM is able to offer BPL technology to users in buildings such as hotels, apartments, hospitals, multi-unit commercial properties, government agencies and other multi-dwelling spaces that are not currently wired for high speed Internet or data transmission, while at the same time keeping costs and installation time down.

The Telkonet iWire System is a proven reliable and secure solution, which also creates a "smart grid" system, allowing utility companies to manage their power grids, take meter readings and perform maintenance from one central location; a convenience that is very useful when dealing with larger buildings that may have more than one metered customer in several locations.
IDACOMM most recently used Telkonet's iWire System to provide broadband connectivity to the historic Alaska Building, located in downtown Boise, ID owned by Parklane Management, LLC. The Telkonet solution enabled the owners to provide broadband connectivity to all of the tenants of the five-story multi-tenant building, including insurance agencies and retail shops, without the cost of re-wiring or the risk of damage to the historic buildings' infrastructure.
