stitch_surfs,
When Calypso announced their equity interest in RV Tec, I went to RV Tec's website and reviewed it. After this I realized that RV Tec is not a manufacturer, but apparently outsource this function. Essentially, RV Tec is at least a designer and developer of handsets.
To my knowledge Calypso never stated that RV Tec was a manufacturer, so your assertion that Calypso made this claim is wrong. Reread Calypso's PR regarding the RV Tec equity interest, and you cannot conclude that Calypso made this claim. Calypso has not mislead anybody in this regard. Some people may get carried away with what RV Tec can do, but it is wrong to assert that Calypso is misleading the public because of the comments of some posters on this board.
But, I do agree with your thought regarding 'cost layering'. The move by Calypso to acquire in part RV Tec, should result in a lower cost basis for Calypso's offering. I am sure RV Tec has relationships and processes with organizations that do the actual manufacturing which will benefit Calypso in the long run, and assist and guide them in the next 6 months.
