Streetpenn ...

"I doubt Ryles was paid off. I also doubt that Ryles got cold feet. There is no question in my mind that MP, for sure (that's an understatement), and Ryles are walking into BK Court with unclean hands. However, I really do no think Ryles would have gone this far only to smell the coffee, now."

We're all reduced to opinions right now, opinions formed after looking through the filter of publicly available court docs. Possible explanations for the bizarre are based only on speculation by us uninformed observers.

Here's another possible explanation:

MP put some serious pressure on Ryles and his attorney and even on the Judge. (Hear me out before you laugh.) Serious and heavy enough that everyone, including the Judge, decided the "wise" thing to do was come to some sort of ooc agreement on the "best" way forward.

I think everyone would agree that MP has historically been very skilled at orchestrating a great many things to do with loch/cdex.

My guess is he's also been very skilled at finding and collecting old skeletons in musty closets that could serve his purposes later.

I think it's also safe to say that not one of these parties -- MP, Ryles, Brumfield, their lawyers, and the Judge (have I left anyone out? who would MP's lawyer be?) spent the past week or so holed up incommunicado in their respective offices playing on-line solitaire.
