Just in case you were referring to me, you know what I think of Bush. However, it is the fact that Rogue thinks that the government INTENTIONALLY delayed going in SO THAT it could then have an excuse for a police state.... that is NUTS!

In fact, it is soooo nutzoid that it hardly deserves to be responded to and I simply CANNOT believe that you would agree with it. I guarantee that N.O. will be as free as the day before Katrina when all this is over. There won't be a single national guardsman in sight. And, if there were any truth whatsoever to the notion that the government just wanted an excuse to go in there with tanks and guns ablazin' then guess what?... there would be tanks and guns ablazin' and there isn't. They are there passing out food, water and escorting people to safety. It is a ludicrous and insulting suggestion that they are there for any other reason.

They took forever to get there IMO because of many logistical problems - and the consequences of that lay at the feet of George Bush - right or wrong. The fact that most of the available Louisiana national guard was in Iraq is a political price he will have to pay and, in all probability WILL pay, in the 2006 elections.

But, to suggest that he intentionally delayed is preposterous! There is no conceivable way that he could have thought it was anything other than political suicide for him to take one second longer than necessary to get the troops in there. And, it is just insanity to believe anything otherwise.

The silver lining to this is that we can be 100% sure that he won't be invading Iran anytime soon. I suspect that the first thing that came out of Cheney's mouth when Katrina hit was "Damn, there goes Iran!"
