Actually, the 'idea' is not that far fetched.

First of all, remember that MMs act largely according to their clients, ie; you and me.

Secondly, keep in mind that Fib retracements are always expected.

I haven't tallied what the exact Fib retracement has been here, but I'd venture to say it's been pretty close to typical.
