After 10 years in uniform, and shortly following the birth of the first of five children, he and his wife made the decision to exit the Army. He then went to work for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) as a mechanical engineer where he learned computer programming, followed by going to work for a small technology consulting firm out of St. Louis. In 1997, Mr. Verges launched a technology start-up in with his two brothers, sister and father. The family-founded technology business, known today as NewMarket Technology, has grown through various ups and downs to a $100 million technology services company with offices in Asia, South America and the United States. Today, he remains as Chairman of the NewMarket.

NewMarket has earned awards and been recognized in industry rankings through the years and in 2008, Mr. Verges was recognized as an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist and a Tech Titans Corporate CEO Finalist.

Throughout his career, Philip Verges has also maintained his commitment to public service. He serves in the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) Private Sector Advisory Group.
