underwriters are purchasing these shares, with the entitlement of purchasing more at/by a certain date. I had been involved in an offering once about 3 years ago. My shares were not able to trade on the open market for (1)one year. I had the option to purchase more at a certain price already determined before I purchased my original shares, these shares had a time limit to them. The reason for the restriction is so that the shares were not dumped on the open market, which would basically tank the company. ARNA is not stupid, I believe they are taking advantage of when the public is interested in them first of all. This is when they will make the most of their sales.
Second, the sales will increase the value of ARNA. This is enticing to other companies for any possible buy out, or if the drug is not approved for whatever reason the company will not tank because of it. ARNA could basically settle any debts, and look very favorable to a suitor.

If you check out http://www.eisai.com/news/news201224.html EISAI is also doing something interesting not sure what......

Either way, when you bought into this company, you invested your DD and time and money, for a return. I still believe that ARNA will be successful on 6-27. We may only see 18-20 dollars instead of 22-25 dollars, who knows. I personally will be taking advantage of these cheap shares.....glty
