The "EMTA" is the voice "box" that Comcast is using as their means of transmitting and recieving ip voice...

Your knowledge is obviously so lacking that you didn't even know this basic fact.

Without and "EMTA" there would be no phone servcice...and yes OF COURSE there is a channel dedicated for phone use...there is also a channel dedicated for internet use and one dedicated for On demand and serveral dedicated for HDTV and even more dedicated for digital and analog cable...

don't try and learn something that you have no business talking about on the internet, let alone arguing about it.

At this point I don't care if you are 10% right, because you are 90% wrong and I am MORE THAN TIRED of correcting you..
