Any reason why this would be specific to type 1 diabetes vs other autoimmune conditions?

DiaPep277 was detected as a target of a diabetogenic T-cell clone derived from mice model for type 1 diabetes (NOD) and Prof. Cohen focused on diabetes since. No reason as far as my understanding goes, that the parent molecule of the peptide—HSP60 wouldn't work in other autoimmune and inflammatory conditions see

Might not produce dramatic results, but much less likely to produce serious side effects a la Tysabri
