NVIDIA chips to power graphics for upcoming MacBook Pros

Theflyonthewall.com (so, pretty much speculation only imo)

..Apple's (AAPL) next MacBook Pros will feature Nvidia (NVDA) graphics alongside Intel (INTC) Ivy Bridge processors, according to The Verge, which cited confirmation from Joanna Stern at ABC News and its own source, though the report did not identify which specific Nvidia chip Apple will use in the devices.

--------------

"Meanwhile, ABC News claims that Apple plans to use NVIDIA's graphics chips in the new MacBook Pros this time round. Apple had used AMD's graphics chip in the current generation MacBook Pros.

The new laptops are expected to be powered by Intel’s latest processors, called Ivy Bridge. Those processors will be faster than the current generation of Intel processors and improve graphics. However, the laptops will also get a graphics boost from Nvidia’s latest graphics, the GeForce GT 650M card. ABC News has heard the same from its sources, which say Apple will move from AMD to Nvidia graphics chips in this version of the MacBook Pro.

If the rumors turn out to be accurate then the thinner new MacBook Pros with Retina Display, support for USB 3.0, NVIDIA graphics chip, Intel's new Ivy Bridge quad-core processors, flash memory would be the most significant upgrade since 2008."
