Walmart sells "necessities", most of the crap in Walmart is just that "crap". How many plastic crappy toy's do we really need. How many shirts that you can wash 5 times before they fall apart do you really buy?

The upper middle class can pay $3.00 per gallon and still shop upscale, maybe with some restraint. They won't be caught shopping at Walmart. Think of what the neighbors would say.

Walmart is pretty much everywhere in the USA, except for the places that are fighting against them coming here, like Portland. Low margin merchandise, that they can only squeeze the vendors so hard before they go under. I think you have posted to that effect in the past.


From my 3 years of living near Walmart, I don't own anything that still works or has not rusted within one season (think patio furniture).

I would not be buying Walmart, nor any other retailer at this point in the economic cycle. Well maybe some of the electronic retailers for the holiday sales, but I sure would not want to own them into 2006.
