West Coast Cannabis Expo
?Inspired by President Barack Obama with his American Job Act, the West Coast Cannabis Expo's organizers say it will be the very first to feature a Job Fair with career opportunities in the $1.7 billion legal medical marijuana industry.

The event launches this Friday, October 7, and continues through Sunday, October 9 at the Cow Palace - South Hall, located at 2600 Geneva Avenue in Daly City, just south of San Francisco.

The Job Fair idea came from the dynamic Cheryl Shuman, executive director of celebrity, media and public relations for KUSH Magazine and director of special projects for the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA).

"Working with KUSH Magazine, I see hundreds of job opportunities," Shuman said. "West Coast Cannabis Expo organizers are taking a more serious look by focusing on getting Americans back to work."

Shuman heads the list of more than 30 top speakers, entrepreneurs, activists and industry leaders participating in the speakers' program, including California State Senator John Vasconcellos, Stephen DeAngelo of Harborside Health Center, Debby Goldsberry of ARCH Collective, Dale Gieringer of California NORML and many others.

?"The beautiful thing about the cannabis plant is that it not only has the ability to heal a multitude of illnesses, it has the power to heal the economy by creating desperately needed jobs," Shuman said.

Sponsored by NCIA, the national trade association for the cannabis industry, the job fair will feature many local job opportunities within the growing medical cannabis industry.

"Even in the face of a dismal national economy, the legal medical cannabis industry is growing and creating jobs across the country," said NCIA Executive Director Aaron Smith. "The jobs showcased at this fair represent only the tip of the iceberg of a growing national industry."

Cannajobs -- a member-business of NCIA -- has been named as the exclusive service to execute the Job Fair mission at West Coast Cannabis Expo. Cannajobs specializes in working with companies that are looking for employes, affiliates, representatives and salespeople in the medical cannabis field. Job seekers are encouraged to bring their resumés and prepare for on-the-spot interviews.

?Companies lined up to participate in the Job Fair include Cannajobs, WeedMaps, Cannamist, Phototron, Versativa, IAMBUD, Jerome Handley Law, Sweet Leaf Collective, Simply Chronic, California Earth Supply, Cannabis Career Institute and many others, according to Shuman.

"Cannajobs' mission is to provide information about how to make the leap into the cannabis industry and match those seeking jobs in the industry with companies that need assistance," said Robert Calkin, CEO of Cannajobs. "These aren't just medical marijuana dispensary jobs; there are many attractive options available in this industry, from sales to growing to legal assistance to activism."

Cannajobs.com is a new online resource for cannabis jobs that aims to fill employment needs in the medical cannabis industry. The site offers free job posting and applications, and provides a free video conferencing system that allows online interviews, meetings and file sharing.

Cannajobs is also the home of The Circle, a free social networking platform where members can create groups for their businesses or interest, join live video conferences, and connect with others in the industry. Circle members cash conduct "CannaMeetings" and job interviews using the site's online videoconferencing technology.

At this event, Cannajobs will provide candidates with an honest assessment of their skill set and experience. They will also teach interested parties how to enter the industry, overcome skill gaps, develop compelling resumés, and make themselves attractive to cannabis employers.

Cannabis career candidates will complete a brief intake form and talk to a Cannajobs career counselor to determine which types of jobs match their preferences, if there are any immediate matches, or if they need additional experience or training to become better qualified for their target career.

Cannabis industry job seekers who attend the expo will have access to the Cannajobs.com website, where they may post their resumés and query job openings. They will also receive access to a free video conferencing room that they can use to network and promote themselves.

Businesses will be able to sign up with Cannajobs at no charge. They can also initiative free video conferences to promote their goods and services, as well as conduct interviews with prospective employees privately and efficiently.

"Cannajobs offers a valuable public service by offering information and guidance to anyone who wishes to move into the medical marijuana industry," Calkin said. "After the job fair, job seekers can continue their search for jobs on Cannajobs.com and interview for positions by using our free video conferencing room called The Circle."

Medical marijuana companies are urged to contact Cannajobs prior to the event to discuss their current hiring needs. "There is still room for companies in the medical marijuana industry to join the job fair," Calkin said. "It's best to contact us in advance, but since this is an informal event, you can also just come by our booth at the show and talk to potential employees."

The West Coast Cannabis and Music Expo will take place Friday, October 7 from 3 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, October 8 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, October 9 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cow Palace, located at 2600 Geneva Avenue in Daly City.

Single-day tickets are available for $23.25, and three-day passes can be bought for $45. The event is open to the public, but attendees must have a valid doctor's recommendation to enter to designated medicating area.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office or online at http://westcoastcannabisexpo.com/buytickets.html.

Sponsors of the West Coast Cannabis and Music Expo include WeedMaps.com, Be Legally Green (BLG), Humboldt Nation Distribution, ConspireATL.com, The BISS List, BISS Entertainment, CwAnalytical.com, Beverly Hills Cannabis Club and Elemental Wellness.
