since no single stock market can isolate itself from this connected financial world.

This will be oh-so-true in the coming years. If anything, there won't be a chance for isolation and differences. I see the NYSE getting eliminated and obsolete.

Look at the differences in trading volume. THat should be some kind of "upper indicator" for ya
