"I wanted to create a site that always kept the community in mind"

Hi Bob,
In my opinion, this is a key point. And one that needs to be looked at. Specifically, what kind of community do you want it to be?

Compare it to the 3D world. You have your nice suburban neighborhoods with different types of houses with different colors on the same street and occassionally, you may have a disagreement with one of your neighbors because they don't mow their lawn often enough, or play loud music, but essentially you have a community that defines itself.

Or you can have a planned community where every house or condo looks the same and is the same color and you have "associations" who tell you that you can't paint your home a certain color or plant a tree because it is not in the plan. And their are never any complaints about loud music, because the screening process doesn't allow undesirables in. Basically a community that is defined upfront.

And then you have communities where everyone plays loud music and has graffiti on their walls and never cuts their grass. A bit of chaos.

Some people like living in a chaotic community, some people like planned communities where there is never any discord and nobody complains about one of their neighbors because those issues have to go through the owners association. I find both of those types of communities equally distasteful.

I hope that iHub does not become a planned community. Sometimes people do things that deserve comment from the others in the community. Sometimes it is ok to voice your opinion that they need to cut their lawn or fix the roof or stop playing loud music. And sometimes neighbors will disagree. This is real life. This was the beauty of SI in its hey day. It was a community. It had warts, it wasn't perfect, but it was a community. And then the city council moved in and started digging up the streets and and disrupting the community. The residents were fine up until then. That isn't what was broken. And in my opinion, that isn't one of the things that needs to be addressed at iHub.

Provide the streets, sidewalks and utilities, But please don't build our houses for us so that they all look the same and then try to resolve all of our differences before they happen. There is no way that I would live in a planned community in 3D or in 2D.

This is the single biggest issue that I have with iHub.

But please do fix the danged login timeout issue.
