Bottom line, the financials are poor. IMO, they cannot be relied upon.

I guess that depends on your DD. The DD I do indicates that I should take the risk. For example, one thing is tracking order numbers. It was a big help in understanding how sales were doing. When we look at financials to compare, numbers are pretty close.
