From the United Nations Foundation

Dear Friends,

How much of an impact can a mobile phone, tablet, or other device have on the health issues you care about? Probably more than you think:

Mobile technology has helped rural health clinics keep track of life-saving malaria drug supplies

Mobile technology has also helped vaccination campaigns track who has received vaccines and who still needs them

In poor communities, mobile technology provides mothers and children with the health information they need to keep their families healthy

Mobile health, or mHealth, can be a game changer in global health. That’s why the United Nations Foundation hosts the mHealth Alliance, an organization dedicated to mobilizing innovative mobile technologies to improve global health.

This month, the mHealth Alliance is partnering with the GSM Association to host the second annual Mobile Health Summit in Cape Town, South Africa, to discuss some of the largest global health concerns and cutting-edge solutions. Academics, medical professionals, government health officials, NGOs, and mHealth Alliance members are all eligible to receive a 30% discount to this event. If you want to take advantage of this opportunity, let us know at info@mhealthalliance.org.

So tell us, what can your mobile devices do to improve health? Let us know on Facebook!

Sincerely,

Patty Mechael, PhD, MHS
