wouldn't it make more sense to just hook this system to a series of towers in areas that have a high abundance of lightening strikes. When was the last time you saw a hot air balloon in a thunderstorm? The only fly those things on the best clear weather days. Airplanes avoid thunderstorms by 20 miles and for good reasons. HAIL,LIGHTENING,RAIN,EXTREME TURBULANCE, TORNADOS, WINDSHEARS.
