The company was founded in 1996 as FarWest Group, Inc. and changed its name to Capacitive Deionization Technology Systems, Inc. in 2001. Capacitive Deionization Technology Systems is based in Addison, Texas. On November 6, 2008, Capacitive Deionization Technology Systems Inc. filed a voluntary petition for liquidation under Chapter 7 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas.
