The company also has a manufacturing and marketing license with TDA Research, Inc.; and obtained worldwide rights to TDA Research`s patented Porous Carbons from Carbohydrate for the manufacture of electrodes for use in capacitive deionization systems for the separation of ions from water, as well as for the manufacture of porous carbon materials for use as thermal insulation. Its customers include government organizations primarily in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Asia Pacific regions. The company was founded in 1996 as FarWest Group, Inc. and changed its name to Capacitive Deionization Technology Systems, Inc. in 2001. Capacitive Deionization Technology Systems is based in Addison, Texas. On November 6, 2008, Capacitive Deionization Technology Systems Inc. filed a voluntary petition for liquidation under Chapter 7 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas.
